This week (1-5 September) is Women’s Health Week, making it the perfect time to take charge of your health and visit Coastal Women’s Health for a check-up.
Prevention and early detection are the strongest tools we have, so regular gynaecological check-ups, such as cervical screening play a vital role in safeguarding your long-term wellbeing.
Every Check Matters
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. It is the fourth most common cancer in women globally but, if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly, cervical cancer can be cured.
It is recommended to begin cervical screening at the age of 25, and to get checked every five years to best prevent and detect cervical cancer.
“Every check matters,” said Dr Farag. “A simple screening could save your life, and it’s one of the most important steps you can take for your future health.”
But women’s health is about more than one check. Gynaecology and urogynaecology services offer support across many areas, ensuring that you can feel confident and healthy through every stage of life.
How We Can Help
At Coastal Women’s Health, we offer a wide range of gynaecology and urogynaecology services and treatments to ensure every woman’s health. Some of the conditions that we treat include:
- Endometriosis – This chronic condition is the result of tissue growing outside of the uterus, resulting in significant pain and potentially fertility issues. We can help you with a few treatments, including medication, hormonal therapy, and surgical treatment.
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) – This common disorder affects approximately 12-18% of women of reproductive age in Australia, and is a hormonal imbalance that can cause infertility, depression, anxiety, and physical changes in hair and skin. Diagnosis is key to treating this disorder, which can be treated using medication, surgery, and lifestyle modifications.
- Incontinence – Many women face this issue throughout their life – it is nothing to be embarrassed about. We can help treat incontinence using several treatments, including The Wave Brilliance Pelvic Floor Therapy System, medication, behavioural treatment, and surgery.
- Chronic pelvic pain – This condition affects many women and involves pain in the lower region of the body, hence causing discomfort and impacting quality of life. Treatments for this condition include medication, physical therapy, lifestyle and dietary recommendations, and minimally invasive procedures.
All of these conditions can have a significant impact on quality of life, and therefore require treatment to improve this. Coastal Women’s Health is always here for you in your time of need, so if you believe that your pain is something more serious, reach out to your GP for a referral to see Dr Farag.
